Number of private drugstores to be reduced in Azerbaijan

Deputy Health Minister Elsever Agayev said that 868 licenzed drug stores operate in the regions, 589 in Baku, 56 in Ganja, 25 in Sumgayit. There are 117 licensed wholesale drug stores in Baku, 2 in Ganja and 1 in Absheron. He said that 88 kinds of counterfeit medicines were found in 2007.

Underlining the necessity of control wholesale and retail of medicines the minister also said that the number of private drug stores operating under the name of state drug stores should be reduced.

Commenting on advertising medicines on TV channels, the minister said though it is forbidden by the law "On medications," TV channels do not obey it. APA
