Number of tourists rises 20-25% every year

The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan has increased by 20-25% within the last five years, Azerbaijan's Culture and Tourism Ministry's official for foreign tourism sector Elchin Gafarli told the journalists.

He said over 1.3m foreigners visited Azerbaijan in 2006, 900 000 of them are tourists. This indicator is expected to reach to 1m this year. Every tourist approximately spends $600-700 during their tour.

Gafarli noted that most of tourists are the citizens of Russia, Iran, and Georgia. UK, France, and Turkey share the next positions, APA-Economics reports.
