Azerbaijan to deliver fuel money to farmers to make up for prices hike

Azerbaijan had 5.3% growth in agriculture for the first quarter of 2007, the country's Agriculture Minister Ismat Abbasov told at the press conference.

He said that as per the presidential decree on governmental support for farmers, AZN 80 million has been earmarked from the state budget for selling fuel and lubricants (AZN 56 million) and fertilizers (AZN 24) to farmers at 50% discount.

He said that an ad hoc commission has been set up to target the assistance to end-users. The farmers will get the money, with which they will pay 50% of the prices of fuels, lubricants and fertilizers, from ATMs of KapitalBank.

Minister added that there are 52 agriculture vehicle services in the country.

He also said Agroleasing company has bought 565 combine harvesters, 804 plowing tractors, 30 mini-tractors and 7 excavators. The company will buy 382 Belarus tractors from Ganja Auto Plant. APA-Economics
