For the period of its activities the rapid response forces under the Azerbaijan's ombudsman's office carried out over 200 inspections of police boards and departments, the places of temporary detainment and solitary confinement places, to each information, arrived to the "24 hours" service, necessary measures taken.
The Azerbaijan's ombudsman, Elmira Suleymanova stated at the meeting with the second deputy chairman of the European committee on averting tortures and other types of cruel, inhumane and humiliating treatment or punishment, Marc Nevy, the ombudsman's office told Trend.
Having informed the guest on the institute's activities in detail, Suleymanova noted, that in order to study the facts of human rights violations and tortures in the places of temporary confinement and accelerated viewing the complaints, the ombudsman's manoeuvrable research group has been set up.
The ombudsman noted also, that like in the administrative and police systems, reforms had been also carried out in the penitentiary system. Joining Azerbaijan to the respective Convention brought positive results. She also reported on measures, related to the protection of human rights and freedoms, including the prisoner's rights and proposals, presented in this regard to the Justice Ministry.
