It is difficult to imagine what else should happen for the Armenians to stop considering themselves the center of the universe.
An appeal by the Armenian National Committee of Canada has been circulated in the Armenian segment of social networks, in which Canadian Armenians demand that the country, and through it, the G7, organize the worldwide protection of Armenia. From whom? From you and me, of course. The appeal says the following: "As Azerbaijan is actively preparing a pretext for the resumption of war, Canada, the G7 chair, must work multilaterally to create an international consensus of like-minded countries to protect the inviolability of Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. It should use all possible diplomatic tools to ensure this and take all proactive measures, including the imposition of sanctions to deter further aggression by Azerbaijan."
It is worth paying attention to how many times the word "must" is used in this appeal. It turns out that Canada owes something to the Armenians. In fact, this country has no obligations to the Armenians, but its leadership under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has done everything to make Armenians think differently. The diaspora took the ardent support for the "genocide" and other Armenian fictions for granted, and it is no longer possible to convince this tribe. Trudeau himself did his best for this. With his excessive predilection for Armenians, which stems from Turkophobia and Islamophobia (we emphasize this so that Yerevan does not deceive itself), he created the impression that Canada owes something to the Armenian Diaspora. It will not be easy to rid the latter of these misconceptions now.
The fact that the diaspora is so brazenly demanding decisive action from Ottawa within the framework of its G7 presidency is out of habit. At one time, Justin Trudeau was like a nightingale, uttering odes to Armenia, Armenians and some of their contributions to the development of Canada. However, speaking of this, he could not find any serious examples of this "contribution". Armenians migrated overseas in the 20s of the last century, and not after the alleged "genocide", as the legends say, but after the borders of Armenia that appeared in the Caucasus were finally determined, and it became clear that "from sea to sea" would not take place. In the wake of the anti-Turkish hysteria, they were caressed in Canada and settled there, to this day speculating on their far-fetched "long-suffering." The contribution of Armenians to the development of Canada is limited to Aunt Anoush's bakery and Uncle Karapet's restaurant.
The zealous Armenophilia of Trudeau and his team apparently stems from the traditional dependence of Canadian politics on Paris. Canada has never had its own interests in the Caucasus, it has been following France's lead, and Armenian narratives have intensified with the coming to power of Emmanuel Macron, who has become a tender friend of Trudeau. Now try to explain to the Armenian National Committee of Canada that no one owes him anything. And even at the G7 site.
The G7 is an informal club of a number of economically developed countries. It has membership in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the United States. As it is easy to see, Armenia is not among them. It's just a club of interests, not an organization, the G7 does not make any international decisions, and official documents are not signed at meetings. Which of these countries does the Armenian community demand to create an "international consensus of like-minded people" against Azerbaijan? How does it imagine the participation of Great Britain and Italy, for example, in such an anti-Azerbaijani format? By the way, Italy chaired the G7 last year, but the Armenians did not dare to address such demands to it. And Canada seems to have its own, Canadian officials don't bother with diplomacy, dancing to the tune of Paris.
Let us recall the visit of Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly to Yerevan in October 2023. Wanting to prove her loyalty to the Armenians, Madame overdid her statements so much that even the Canadian Ambassador to Armenia could not restrain himself and expressed his indignation. The Canadian diplomat stated that Joly's words about sanctions against Azerbaijan risk undermining the peace process in the South Caucasus.
The Canadian Foreign Minister, as well as the French Foreign Minister, are particularly active in promoting Armenian interests. Joly is also in contact with the Canadian I Date Committee, where she sometimes sends messages to show that the government does not forget about the interests and priorities of the Armenians. One of her latest messages is a letter sent a month ago to the Canadian I Date Committee, in which the Foreign Minister warmly assured the Armenians that Canada would stand guard over Armenia's sovereignty.
Such a strange relationship between the ethnic community and the Government raises many questions. Especially when you consider that Ai Dat is a structure of Dashnaktsutyun.
Feeling weak, the local Armenians behave in a bossy manner and demand, not ask. In January last year, members of I Date picketed major Canadian media outlets - TVA Nouvelles and Radio Canada - demanding "adequate media coverage" of the arrest of former separatist regime leaders and other villains, and the government demanded a "firm and principled position" on this issue. The terrorist organization did not like the fact that the Canadian media and authorities did not interfere deeply enough in the affairs of sovereign Azerbaijan.
Let us note once again that Ai Dat is not a public organization, it is the structure of the ARFD (Armenian Revolutionary Front Dashnaktsutyun), a political party with all the nuances that follow from this. In other words, the Canadian government is in contact with an Armenian terrorist political party, which is not welcome even in Armenia itself. Ai Dat does not hide its political priorities and, within this framework, "actively continues to work with representatives of both the legislative and executive branches of Canada." "Official political contacts have recently taken place between the Canadian I Date Committee and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly," one of the committee's communications said after receiving promises and clarifications from the Canadian Foreign Minister.
As you can see, the Canadian Foreign Ministry is in contact with the Armenians at the political level, which completely changes the situation. The official authorities of this country are actually turning into an accomplice and even worse, into an executor of the will of the Armenian terrorist political structure. This is probably why, in their letters and statements to the Government of Canada, the local Armenians allow themselves to speak in an imperious tone.
It is possible that the new head of government shares Trudeau's unhealthy preferences. But there is one problem - Pashinyan has not yet given him socks in the colors of the Armenian flag, which means that he does not owe anything to the Armenians yet.
