The European Parliamenthas accused Azerbaijan of 'severe corruption' against PACE members and 'bribing' their deputies. It is also noted that Azerbaijan was able to hide human rights violations by rejecting an investigation related to its elections.
It is noted that on July 13 this year, the EP adopted a resolution entitled "Recommendations on transparency, accountability and anti-corruption rules". Paragraph T of this resolution contains baseless ideas and absurd claims against Azerbaijan. Allegedly, there were unfounded questions related to the bribery of PACE deputies by Azerbaijani side and human rights in the elections in Azerbaijan.
“It is very interesting that such an organization as the European Parliament, which has recently been at the center of corruption scandals, nevertheless finds the courage to blame other countries, including Azerbaijan. Because, as you know, the corruption scandals that have taken place in the European Parliament since the beginning of this year have caused a lot of noise and resonance. It even went so far that a high-ranking representative of the European Parliament, Vice-President Eva Kaili was arrested by the police and deprived of her mandate due to her direct involvement in a bribery and corruption scandal."
Azerbaijani deputy Tural Ganjaliyev said this in a comment for AZERNEWS while talking about the European Parliament's recent groundless accusation.
According to him, there is no evidence in the accusation brought against our country in the resolution, which contains lies and slander. Undoubtedly, the Armenian diaspora organizations operating in PACE and the European Parliament are behind the continuation of the slanderous campaign against our country. At the same time, it is necessary to mention some of the countries that currently accept them. The first one is France. Because recently in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the OSCE, we have repeatedly witnessed how France and European countries, under its influence, joined suchlike slanderous campaign against Azerbaijan.
As a result of such resolutions, the deputy pointed to the reality of Azerbaijan's independent policy, liberation from the occupation of its historical ancestral lands, creation of a new geopolitical reality based on the principle of new geopolitical justice and the principles of international law.
“Unfortunately, today's reality is not accepted and digested by countries like France that are active in the European Parliament. In particular, along with France, some forces in the European Union are trying to exert various pressures," the MP said.
According to Ganjaliyev, foreign forces first tried to put pressure on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia under the guise of an EU mission against Azerbaijan. However, there was no effective result.
Later, French President Emmanuel Macron tried to take part as an uninvited guest in the negotiations led by EU President Charles Michel, but this did not bring any results. Finally, by adopting such weak resolutions and documents, they think they can put some pressure on Azerbaijan," the deputy said.
The pundit called the European Parliament the last world organization that accused Azerbaijan of corruption and bribery. Because the PACE itself is, an organization mired in corruption and bribery scandals that it blames on others.
“There are forces that cannot come to terms with the fact that the new geography created by Azerbaijan is a reality, that it is restoring justice and liberating its lands from occupation. These are the world Armenians and the Armenian diaspora, especially the forces that are their patrons, the centers of power, and especially the forces operating in the Benelux countries, where the influence of France is strong. I believe that such pressures and steps will not bring any results against our country.
When we liberated our land from occupation, we faced some injustice elements in the world, and even international law were violated. Also, for 30 years, we have not witnessed any reaction or attitude expressed by them regarding the occupation of our lands and the violation of the rights of over 1000,000 of our people IDPs,” Tural Ganjaliyev emphasized.
At the end, Deputy Tural Ganjaliyev addressed the European Parliament to be just and objective to realities.
“I would like to take this opportunity and appeal to the European Parliament that if they talk about human rights and democratic principles and values and are true to these principles, then why have they been silent for 30 years, including me, as a former displaced person, violation of rights of 100 thousands of Azerbaijanis, the most elementary human rights, the right to property, the right to live on their land, as well as the fact that thousands of our people were deprived of their lives over 30 years, and thus the violation of our rights, such as the highest right of a person, “the right to life”? Why didn't they react to all of these then?"
I think before accusing someone of something, it would be better if the European Parliament answered my question," the pundit concluded.
