President Aliyev to meet Azeri envoys

10 July 2006 [16:31] - TODAY.AZ
President Ilham Aliyev is expected to hold a second meeting with the Azerbaijani ambassadors to foreign countries in late July-early August, officials say.

Such meetings have become regular and take place once every two years, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Taghizade told AssA-Irada.

"As before, the discussions will center on the main principles of Azerbaijan's foreign policy, the key objectives and challenges faced by diplomatic representations.

"The meeting is not being organized just to foster communication between the head of state and diplomatic representations."

Taghizade noted that it would be wrong to say that all the outstanding tasks were met during the first meeting. "Some of the tasks remain to be carried out. This will be one of the key issues on the agenda of the upcoming meeting."

Taghizade did not rule out that the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan's number one problem, will be in focus as well.
