UN High Commissioner visits Refugee Women and Youth Center

During his visit, the High Commissioner expressed his appreciation of the work of UNCHR and Hayat staff and stressed the importance of existence of such kind of cultural meeting point that serves persons deprived of their homeland.

Mr. Gutters also met with the representatives of Parent-Teacher Association and Initiative Group of Chechen refugee community. Mr. Gutters expressed his hope to jointly look for solutions to the existing problems and pointed out that the level of UNCHR assistance depends on the organization's mandate as well as availability of external funds in support to the operation in Azerbaijan.

He also assured the refugees that these issues have been brought up as a top priority along with the IDP agenda both at the headquarter levels and in his talks to the officials of the Government of Azerbaijan, AzerTAg reports.
