Erdogan to join second Turkey-Spain summit

The second Turkey-Spain inter-governmental summit will take place in the Spanish capital of Madrid on Monday.

Diplomatic circles define Monday's summit as a gesture by the current EU term president Spain as the country will actually host summits with other countries in late June.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will participate in the Madrid summit with 10 Turkish ministers.

Turkey and Spain will sign two cooperation agreements on health and diplomacy.

Turkish and Spanish dignitaries will discuss Turkey's EU negotiations, the Cyprus issue, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Middle East, Balkans, the project for the Union for the Mediterranean, energy, climate change, global economic crisis, the Alliance of Civilizations project and other current international issues.

Spain will participate in the summit with six ministers.

Premier Erdogan will be accompanied by the following Turkish ministers: Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, Interior Minister Besir Atalay, State Minister in charge of the Alliance of Civilizations initiative Mehmet Aydin, State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis, State Minister in charge of Foreign Trade Zafer Caglayan, Health Minister Recep Akdag, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and Minister of Environment and Forestry Veysel Eroglu.
