The Foreign Ministry rejected Monday a plan proposed in a letter sent by the US, France and Russia on closure of Tehran’s Research Reactor calling the proposal “irrational.”
Ministry’s spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said that the proposal was in fact an “irrational and legally unfounded political pressure exerted on Iran.”
“We will never give up our nuclear goals as they were set based on a program for the country’s development and are made under the supervision and with the cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency and in line with the country’s peaceful objectives,” said the spokesman.
He complained that after several months of Iran’s nuclear talks with the Western states, those countries that were supposed to supply necessary nuclear fuel for Tehran’s Research Reactor have failed to fulfill their commitments.
Mihman-Parast reiterated Tehran’s readiness “to accept any appropriate new plan for supplying Iran’s necessary nuclear fuel based on conditions which would be in line with Iran’s position.”
