On March 4, the Georgian Foreign Ministry hosted a high-level meeting of representatives of the country's executive and legislative authorities, the Council of Europe, the EU, OSCE Commissioner on National Minorities, UN High Commission for Refugees, the International Migration Organization and the European Center for the Minority.
First Deputy Foreign Minister Giga Bokeria led the Georgian side and Jean-Louis Laurens, Council of Europe's Director General of Democracy and Political Affairs led the representatives of international organizations.
The meeting discussed the activities undertaken and planned by Georgia to complete the repatriation of persons deported from Georgia in the 1940s of the last century, in particular Meskhetian Turks.
The international organizations' representatives have received detailed information on the process for reviewing applications seeking the status of immigrants.
