The Armenian media: "Will Sargsyan announce his resignation or withdrawal from Agdam and Fuzuli?"

What will President Serzh Sargsyan say in his address to the nation today is kept in strictest confidence, Haykakan Zhamanak Daily reports.

The newspaper says variety of rumors and assumptions in political circles have it that the president will resign or will make a speech to talk about his high foreign policy achievements. There is also assumption that the president will declare withdrawal from the Armenian-Turkish protocols.

Information that the president will address the nation today about the Armenian-Turkish relations came after the meeting of the Security Council last night. It is unknown what the president talked about with the leaders of the coalition Artur Baghdasaryan, Gagik Tsarukyan and Galustov Sahakian. However, as the newspaper notes, Gagik Tsarukyan after the meeting was simply confused and came out from the meeting hall with the words "now what shall we do?".

Nevertheless, the recent tough meetings Serzh Sargsyan held in Washington and in Moscow indicate that it is time to decide.

The newspaper says citing diplomatic sources that withdrawal from Azerbaijan’s occupied Fuzuli and Agdam regions in exchange for opening of borders with Turkey was discussed during the Washington talks. It is no accident that the U.S. is interested in the Fuzuli region, because it borders on Iran.

Sargsyan's failed visit to Brussels reportedly intended to discuss deployment of NATO peacekeepers in these regions. As the newspaper says, citing a source in the Kremlin, Sargsyan canceled his visit to Brussels at the insistence of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Sargsyan-Medvedev talks were held in a very tense and difficult atmosphere. Serzh Sargsyan was explained in a hard tone that such a decision under Washington pressure without regard for Moscow’s interests is unacceptable to Russia, according to Haykakan Zhamanak.
