Turkey will host the 36th UEFA Congress next year, according to the Turkish Football Federation, or TFF. The TFF announced that the executive board of the European football’s governing body has chosen Istanbul as the host city of the congress, which will be organized in March 2012.
TFF Chairman Mahmut Özgener said the summit, which will be hosted in the Istanbul Congress Center, would be important for Turkish football.
"We are proud to host all the top names in European and global football as well as more than 150 reporters," Özgener said in a statement. "This congress will boost Turkey’s bid to become a capital city for international football events."
Turkey previously hosted the UEFA Congress once before, in 1978.
