E-trade revenues of Turkish companies went up 45 percent in the first quarter of 2011 when compared to the same term last year and reached a figure of 4,843,500 billion Turkish
liras (TL).
According to the Interbank Card Center (BKM), the number of transactions of e-trade went up 40 percent in the first quarter of 2011 when compared to the same period last year and reached a figure of 28,096,690.
In the first three months of 2011, 217 transactions took place every minute in e-trade in Turkey, BKM figures indicated.
Most of the spending at e-trade in Turkey in the first three months of 2011 took place in the services sector, including fitness centers and restaurants.
Sertac Ozinal, a senior BMK official, told the AA that Turkey ranked among the top 15 countries in the world with its number of internet users.
