Asker Abdullayev appointed as new coach of FC Olimpik Baku

Asker Abdullayev has been appointed as the new coach of Azerbaijani side FK Olimpik Baku after Serbo-Montenegrin coach Petar Kurbicic was not offered a new contract, having led his side to a 12th-placed finish in 2005/06.

The 46-year-old Abdullayev led FK Shafa to Azerbaijan Cup success in 2001 and won the same competition with FK Baku in 2004. He has also coached the Under-21 and senior national teams.
