Lack of territory obstructs Geiygol State Reserve's status as National Park

28 December 2006 [12:38] - TODAY.AZ
"There are objective reasons hindering Geiygol Reserve to receive the status of National Park. The Reserve needs enlarging to at least 18,000-20,000 ha," Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyn Bagirov said.

He said that Geiygol State Reserve occupies 6,000 hectares of territory.

"National Parks have peculiarities, as well as ensuring strong security system and all favorable conditions for animals living in wild nature. Restricted tourism zones should be created for people to observe natural processes. Moreover, ecotourism and other infrastructural constructions should be established," he said, APA reports.
