Journalists on trial in Azerbaijan for 'insulting Prophet Muhammad'

The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office has sent to court the criminal case of editor in chief of the Senet (Profession) small circulation newspaper Samir Huseynov and newspaper staff member Rafig Tagi.

"The case was sent to the Baku Nasimi District Court," a source told Interfax on Thursday.

The journalists were detained for posting an article entitled "Europe and Us," which, in the opinion of the Prosecutor General's Office, insulted Prophet Muhammad. The article was published last November.

Huseynov and Tagi were charged with incitement to racially or religiously motivated hatred and abuse of office. Interfax
