The earthquake, which was centered in Sancak town of Turkey's eastern Bingol province, occurred at 14:35 p.m. local time (1235 GMT), Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory and Seismology Institute was quoted as saying, the CNN-Turk television channel reported.
People rushed into the street after the quake, the report said.
On Feb. 21, a moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted the town of Sivrice in Elazig province in eastern Turkey, causing slight damages but no casualties.
Earthquakes are frequent in Turkey which lies on active fault lines. Two devastating earthquakes in the country in 1999 killed more than 18,000 people. Xinhua
