Journalists apply for asylum

Editor of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper Uzeyir Jafarov underwent assault on April 20 will apply for asylum as a protest to this incident and happenings against the newspaper.

Editor told the APA that it is impossible to live and work in Azerbaijan and will return when there is normal atmosphere in the country.

Editor said he intends to apply to Canada, Norway, Austria and Finland for asylum and will tomorrow appeal to the embassies of these countries.

Jafarov said five more correspondents of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper will apply for asylum.
