First Lady receives Golden Heart Int'l Award

First Lady of Azerbaijan, UNESCO Goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva received the Golden Heart International Award.

The award ceremony took place on May 27 at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater in Moscow, Russia, under the patronage of the famous Italian actress Sofia Loren.

Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded for her large-scale charity activities.

"I think that a good deeds of the Golden Heart laureates are a call for benevolence," Mrs Aliyeva said during a ceremony.

The Golden Heart International Award is presented for outstanding achievements in service to the high human ideals.  Among the founders of the Award, supported by the Russian Government, Federation Council, the Government of Moscow, and RF commission on UNESCO Affairs, there are Itar-Tass News Agency and the Russian Red Cross. Chairman of the Organizing Committee is cardio-surgeon and public figure Jacob Brand.

Ceremony's TV version will be broadcasted by Russia's NTV channel on June 1.
