The 60th session of the Council of Frontier Troops commanders of the CIS states started in Baku today, said the press service for the Azerbaijan State Frontier Service.

The session is attended by representatives of the frontier departments of the CIS states. Members of the council will consider more than 20 issues. Attention will be paid to settlement of practical issues for ensuring frontier security on the external borders of the CIS states in the framework of the plan of actions for implementation of the Concept of the coordinated frontier policy of the CIS member-states for 2007-2010.
According to RIA-Novosti, the event is held for raising effectiveness of the planning of joint special frontier operations and operative measures for 2009, as well as timely conduction of financial calculations for allocation of funds for their preparation and conduction.
The sides will also consider exchange of experience in application of new forms and ways of protection of external borders of the CIS states to face main challenges and threats to security in present-day conditions, as well as combat with crime, illegal turnover of drugs, psychotic substances, terrorism and illegal migration.
The sides will also consider draft recommendations on harmonization and unification of the legislatures of the CIS member-states on state border and on state departments (forces).
It should be noted that the previous session of the council was held in Kiev on April 24-25 of 2008.
