Armenian prisoner attempting to break out of jail in Azerbaijan’s capital was shot

An Armenian prisoner, who wanted to break out of a jail in Azerbaijan’s capital, was shot by the a soldier serving in the jail. Law-enforcement bodies told APA that it happened in jail No 11.
Armenian prisoner, Sarkisian Edgar Eduardovich, 23, attempted to escape by jumping over the gate. The prisoner was shot, as he had ignored the warning of the soldier serving the jail. Sarkisian was hospitalized. He feels normal.

Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service confirmed the fact. The service told APA that Azerbaijani citizen Sarkisian, who was born in Baku in 1985, was held in the correctional facility for robbery. After he was released he raped his sister. He faced charges under articles 150.3.3, 132 and 66.3 of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to 14 years in jail.

On November 8, Sarkisian attempted to break out of the prison through the gate for lorries, but was shot in his foot. He was taken to the medical facility of the Penitentiary Service. The officials of the Penitentiary service and Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office were on the site.

Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office has launched criminal case, the fact is being investigated.
