Azerbaijani human rights activists have held a meeting with David Kraemer, assistant US secretary on issues of democracy, human rights and labor, visiting Baku, said human rights activist Saida Gojamanly.

She noted that the meeting was attended by human rights activist Novella Cafaroghlu, Saida Benanyarli, Elchin Behbudov, Sahib Mamedov, Arzu Abdullayeva, political scientists Rasim Musabeyov and Ilgar Mamedov.
"Kraemer told us that by instruction of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice he is studying the situation with human rights and the opportunity to develop this situation", said Gojamanly.
She noted that the human rights activists informed Kraemer of the problems with bases of democracy, including freedom of speech and right for freedom of assembly.
"We noted that four arrested journalists, possible shutdown of foreign radio stations proves that Azerbaijan still has problems in the sphere of human rights and democracy and asked him to inform President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev about it", said Gojamanly.
