President of Azerbaijan congratulates orthodox community of Azerbaijan on Christmas

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated the whole Christian community of Azerbaijan on Christmas, reports AzerTac.
The appeal of the President to the Orthodox Chstians of the country says:

"Dear compatriots!

I would like to present my warm congratulations to you, the whole Christian community of Azerbaijan, on occasion of Christmas and my sincere wishes.

All peoples and ethnic and religious communities live and function within Azerbaijan that has been recognized as an example of tolerance in conditions of mutual respect and trust, peace and tranquility.

I would like to note with satisfaction that the community of Orthodox Christians, who are the citizens of our country, preserve the faith, traditions, and is free in marking the national religious holidays and holding ceremonies.

Christmas is celebrated every year by the community of Orthodox Christians not only in Azerbaijan but also in the whole world. May this wonderful holidays, which is a symbol of renewal, peace, tranquility, and charity bring happiness, welfare and wealth to your families".

It should be noted that Catholic and Protestant Christians mark Christmas on December 25, while Orthodox Christians on January 7.
