Imprisoned journalist Mirza Sakit sends appeal to Azerbaijani Justice Minister with a demand to put an end corruption in correctional facilities

According to journalist's wife Rena Zahidova, a similar appeal was also sent to chairman of the permanent commission of Milli Medjlis on legal policy and state construction Ali Huseynov.

"In his appeal Mirza Sakit demands to put an end to corruption in the correctional facilities", noted Zahidova.

Notably, Mirza Sakit was detained on June 23 of 2006. On October 4 of 2006 the Court of Grave Crimes found Mirza Sakit guilty and sentenced him to 3 years in prison under article 234.1 of the Criminal Code (storage and use of drugs).
