Azerbaijan has launched the fifth stage of the program of control over drugs in the South Caucasus (SCAD) aiming to assess the overall state of the National Legislation on combating illegal drug trafficking and drug addition.
According to AzTv channel, SCAD national coordinator Mazahir Efendiyev said a national strategy on combat with illegal drug trafficking and drug addiction is being prepared and international experience will be studied for the purpose.
He said the Azerbaijani government had take a number of large scale measures to combat illegal drug trafficking, while preparing the national strategy will make these measures more effective. As for the facts of illegal planting and transit of drugs in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan, Efendiyev said documents on these facts had already been presented to the US Department of State, UN, EU and other international organizations.
"Azerbaijan can not control these lands de facto. As the law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan can not control these lands for some known reasons, the powers cannot avert this illegal activity. There is a real need for the world community to hold special monitoring and operations in the occupied lands", announced he.
