Blast occur in a residential house in Baku, casualties reported - UPDATED

The Narimanov district prosecutor's office studies all versions of the explosion, which occurred in the bakery, official of the Narimanov district prosecutor's office Islam Shahverdiyev, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

"We study all versions of the event. The thing is that as far as we know, there were gas ovens in the vakery, but they were not used. Electric ovens were used for baking bread", noted Shahverdiyev.

He said currently investigative measures are held on the spot and an operative group has been created.

"It is still unclear whether the activity of the said bakery that belongs to capital city resident Elshad Aydemir, was legal", noted Shahverdiyev.

Representative of Azerbaijani Emergency Ministry made a statement on the blast in a bakery in Baku.

According to APA, spokesman for the Ministry Tural Museibov said the information about the blast was provided to the 112 call center at about 10.05. A rescuers' group of the Ministry left for the spot right away.

Three people suffered during the blast. One of them is in a severe state and another moderate severe. The third victim was signed out after receiving a medical aid.

Museibov said gas leakage has caused the blast. As a proof he stated the existence of a gas oven in the bakery for baking bread. He also said that investigation is under way. The legality of the construction where the bakery functioned is being checked.

According to APA, three people suffered in a blast including Tamella Rza qizi Huseynov (1958), Dilshad Pehraj qizi Huseynova (1967) and Gulnisa Rza qizi Latifova (1968). No casualties are reported.

Two are placed in the rehanimation department of the Clinical medical center.

Deputy head doctor of the center Adil Salakhov said two of the placed victims Tamella Huseynova and Gulnisa Huseynova are in a severe state and placed in the reanimation department.

The ambulatory treatment is appointed for Dilshad Huseynova.

Criminal Case has been launched under article 162 (violation of the rules of labor protection) of the Criminal Code.

According to ANS-Press, the blast occurred at Azadlug avenue on the ground floor of a 16-storied building.

The blast is reported to have occured in the bakery on the ground floor of the building. The bakery has an area of 45 square meters.

By preliminary information 3 women, working in the bakery, were injured and brought to the hospital. The state of two women is assessed as grave.
