Oqtay Atakhan: "Our citizens were open and sincere in answering the question about importance of religion in their life"

The result of Gallup's sociological poll reflects the reality, said leader of the Humanistic Party Oqtay Atakhan, speaking about the recent Gallup poll according to which Azerbaijan is among five most non-religious countries, where only 21% of Azerbaijanis answered positively on the question "Does religion take an important role in your life?".

According to him, the result of the poll is a mirror reflection of the chaos in the religious sphere in our country, in particular in Muslim religion.

"Naturally, Azerbaijan through many centuries of its history was a place of development of different religions, in particular, zoroastrism appeared in our country but Azerbaijani people have never been completely clerical.

"Therefore, we should not be surprised at the results of the poll, held by Gallup", noted Atakhan.
