There is a need to allocate a place on the city suburb, about 20-25 kilometers away from the center, to bury street and home animals in Baku, said Azer Garayev, head of the Azerbaijani association of animal protection.

He said it is necessary to allot a small area for burying animals not far from the center of Baku for the owners to be able to bury their pets without any special problems.
If a cemetery is too far, they would prefer to bury their pets near the house, in the yard, or in parks, added he.
"Yet there is a sharp problem of free space in Baku", said Garayev.
"The only thing that hinders creation of a cemetery for animals is the absence of free space".
Absence of a cemetery for pets in Baku, he considers, is a violation of the law of Azerbaijan "On fauna".
