“There is swine flue threat for Azerbaijan. Therefore, importation of animal products from the countries tested positive for swine flue will be banned,” chief of State Veterinary Service under Agriculture Ministry Ismayil Hasanov said at the press conference, APA reports.
According to him, only Mexico swine flu has been found among swine. In other countries it has spread among people. In connection with the swine flu found in Mexico, State Veterinary Service banned importation of animal products from America from April 27. Hasanov said the products brought to the country by April 27 received certificates, it was confirmed that those products were safe. So, people can use the products brought to the country by that time.
Hasanov said they had no information about swine flu in Russia and added that Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov held a meeting with participation of the related ministries and committees and gave necessary instructions to prevent swine flu. The department chief said they had initial tests and disinfection devices to struggle against the swine flu.
Hasanov said in connection with the swine flu, monitoring had begun in pig breeding farms in Azerbaijan from April 27. The monitoring will approximately end within 10 days. Hasanov said there were pig breeding farms in 7-8 regions of Azerbaijan, including Gedebey, Agstafa, Khachmaz, Absheron and added that there were 20,000-25,000 pigs in the country.
Ismayil Hasanov said the new disease observed in people combined the symptoms of bird flu, swine flu and human flu. Therefore, it was offered to change the name of swine flu. The virus of all the three diseases falls under Group A. Hasanov said all flu viruses die at 70-80 degrees, swine flu at 71 degrees within 5-10 minutes. The department chief added that swine flu mainly spreads from human to human. It has not been completely confirmed whether the disease spreads from swine to men or not.
