The State Commission for prevention of bird flu and coordination of relevant organizations addressed the population on H1N1 (“swine flu”) virus.

The Health Ministry told APA, A(H1N1) virus was identified in 11 countries – Mexico, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Israel, Spain, Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Netherland until May 11. Nine fatal cases were identified in Mexico and one – in the United States. There are more than 2500 like swine-flu infection cases in Mexico and more than 70 – in USA. The Mexican medical experts are investigating the reasons of deaths of 159 people died form pneumonia.
Director General of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan declared virus passing from level 4 to 5, which means confirmation of human-to-human infection cases in at least two countries.
The symptoms of the disease are headache, pains in muscles, high temperature, cough, quinsy, rhinitis and sometimes diarrhea. Tamiflu (oseltamivir, zanamivir) is recommended for the treatment of the disease.
The statement says that suspicious symptoms have not been observed in Azerbaijan. Health Ministry and Agriculture Ministry have already formed some reserves for prophylactics, diagnostics and treatment of the disease. State Commission advises people to appeal to the medical establishment in case of any suspicious symptoms, obey hygienic rules and not to visit the countries tested positive for the disease.
