02 May 2009 [12:09] - TODAY.AZ
Results of the tender announced to prepare feasibility study of prolongation of the pipe for draining polluted water from Hovsan aeration station to Caspian Sea summarized in Azerbaijan.
Azersu informed that SEYASH Sey (Turkey) and Grontij/CarlBro (Denmark) won the tender.

The decision to finance this project can be made by the WB Board of Directors already in 2010 fiscal year (it starts since July 2009).

According to preliminary estimate, the project will cost approximately $100-150 million.

The project consultant is the alliance of France’s Seurega (a subsidiary company of Veolia) and Azerbaijan’s ASPI. The alliance is ready to start realizing the contract already in April.

Within the project sewage cleaning line with capacity of 2.5 cu m per sec should be laid into the sea by 12 kilometers at the depth of at least 30 m. That is the most optimal version in respect to Caspian hydrology and environmental self-cleaning perspectives.

Within the Urban Water Supply & Sanitation Programme in Azerbaijan the WB endorsed upgrade of watersupply and sewage systems within two projects on 43 regions of the country. Overall cost of two projects is $560 million, and the Bank has allocated $420 million. In 2010 fiscal year WB is ready to allocate extra financing for these projects.
