Persons planning to explode Gabala radar and some embassies in Azerbaijan stand trial

Court of Grave Crimes continued preliminary hearing on the case of Lebanese and Azerbaijani citizens, who are accused of having links to Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps of Iran and attempting to commit terror attacks in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Ilgar Murguzov presided over the hearing. No one except public prosecutor, defendants and their lawyers were allowed inside the court. Lawyers filed petitions. Court announced break to consider the petitions. The hearing will continue in the second half of the day.

According to the indictment, leaders of Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah gave instructions to the citizens of Lebanon Karaki Ali Mahammad, Nejmeddin Ali Huseyn and sent them to Azerbaijan. They were ordered to commit terror attacks in Azerbaijan. They carried out propaganda in Guba and Gusar regions of Azerbaijan. The Lebanese citizens could involve Javad Mammadov, Vidadi Rasulov, Mushfig Amanov, Afgan Balashov. Karaki Ali Mahammad offered to explode the Gabala radar station and to cut communication between Azerbaijan and other countries. The group members attempted to approach the Gabala radar for several times and but couldn’t realize their plans.

The group members declared Jihad against the policy of US, Israel and other Western countries. They prepared plan to attack the Israeli embassy from several directions at the same time. They rented apartment opposite to the Israeli embassy and Jewish Cultural Center in Baku. The group members were detained before realizing their plans.

Lebanese citizens – Karaki Ali Mohammad, Najmaddin Ali Huseyn and Azerbaijani citizens – Mammadov Javad Mammadrasul, Rasulov Vidadi Rahil, Amanov Mushfig Eyyub, Balashov Afghan Yunus face with charges under articles of the Penal Code for spying, treason, illegal arms bearing and other articles.
