The federal influenza agency says the woman was hospitalized on July 20 with symptoms of the A/H1N1 influenza and died 11 days later after "she developed a double viral pneumonia."
The agency's statement Thursday did not identify the patient or give her age. It says she lived in northern Belgium.
As of mid-July, Belgium had 126 confirmed cases of swine flu. Since then the government has reported several hundred new cases, AP reported.
