Strong winds and rain that began in southern Azerbaijan on August 9 caused power outage and cut-off in communication.
At present, 50 percent of villages face power outage. Electric power was switched off to prevent accidents. Several electric lines were broken by trees that fell as a result of a strong wind, deputy head of Lenkaran administrative body Mohabbat Babayev said.
Roughly 30 percent of houses are short of electric power in Lerik.
At present, emergency brigades operate to remove problems caused by unstable weather. The size of damage is being determined.
