The problems regarding Baku-Tel Aviv flight must not be politicized, member of the Azerbaijan-Israel Association board Yuri Bocharov said.
“I want to assure everyone that there is no conflict between our countries. This is only a small misunderstanding on the issue of security between two bodies,” Bocharov said.
He noted Israeli airway companies operate flights to more than 80 countries around the world and Israeli security services provide safety of aircrafts in all those airports immediately, he said.
“At the same time, some people claim that they do not let foreigners with arms into their territory. In response to this, I would like to recall that, above all, the Israeli security forces already guard embassy of Israel in Baku. In addition, presence of these forces at the Baku airport will not trouble visitors,” Bocharov said.
Bocharov said there is no need to politicize the issue. He expressed hope that ongoing negotiations will be successfully completed on mutually acceptable terms.
Recently, newly appointed ambassador of Israel in Baku Michael Lavon-Lotem said continuation of flights between Baku and Tel Aviv is in the interests of both countries.
As previously reported, the Israeli airway company this year temporarily suspended flights to Baku and attributed it to lack of sufficient security measures in the Baku International Heydar Aliyev Airport.
In this connection, the airway company offered its services to ensure safety. However, Azerbaijan Airlines did not allow the foreign company to provide security services in the Baku airport.
