20 August 2009 [13:49] - TODAY.AZ
An Azerbaijani citizen taken captive by Armenians was killed brutally, the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons said in a statement.
The analysis into the materials of the commission on the people taken captive during Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan revealed that 39-year old Farhad Atakishiyev was killed brutally during captivity, the state commission said.

The investigations revealed that the reason of Armenian servicemen's brutality against Atakishiyev was the fact that he guarded Azerbaijani soldiers as a resident of the Karkijahan settlement. Armenian servicemen believed that this fact had a great impact on their great losses during their attack on the Karkijahan settlement in December 1991.

They tortured Atakishiyev and tried to make him say "Karabakh belongs to Armenians". However, as Atakishiyev who was not afraid of tortures and death said "Karabakh belongs and will belong to Azerbaijan", the Armenian aggressors killed him mercilessly.

Post mortem examination revealed sings of 72 different tortures on  his body each of which could cause a human death. The commission submitted materials collected on Farhad Atakishyev to the Azerbaijani president. The president awarded him "Azerbaijani Flag" order (after death) in accordance the decree dated July 28, 2009.
