OSCE representative on freedom of media presents his book in Azerbaijan

The author said that the book "Self-regulation of Media" is bestseller. This is the tenth national edition. The book was previosuly published in Turkish, Albanian, Tajik, Hungarian and other languages. Experts from Britain, Turkey and Bulgaria assisted in compiling the book.

Haraszti said the book is necessary for journalists to know how to protect the quality of media in era of Internet. It is also of interest for the state, he said.

"Only absolutely free media can regulate itself. This is not about censorship. Self-regulation of the media is the best mechanism of its development," Haraszti said .

From Sept. 7 to 11 , Haraszti will be on a working visit to Baku where he will discuss situation with freedom of speech. He intends to meet with representatives of authorities, non-governmental organizations and OSCE ambassadors.
