Azerbaijan marks Day of Knowledge

From 2004/2005 academic year, a five-day education week was introduced in I-IV grades of the secondary schools of Azerbaijan.

In new 2009-2010 academic year, 125,000 children will go to secondary schools in Azerbaijan.

A total of 4,256,000 copies of textbooks and aids for teachers have been issued for II and V-XI grades of the secondary schools.

This includes 1,112,500 copies of textbooks and aids for teachers created on the basis of the national curriculum and 3,144,100 copies of textbooks for V-XI grades.
 
From the new academic year, the secondary schools of Azerbaijan will continue to apply a single school uniform according to the order by the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov.

Today there are 4,525 secondary schools in Azerbaijan which employ 170,000 teachers.
