"No mosques has been closed in Azerbaijan," Chief of the Public Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov said.
He said demolishing illegal buildings or stooping of illegal construction didn’t mean the closing of mosques.
“Let journalists not mix buildings under construction with the operating mosques. Two constructing buildings were knocked down in Azerbaijan recently and it was a right move. There are governmental organizations which license constructions and there are laws and rules. They have to receive license of those organizations. The mosques were never closed in Azerbaijan and it will be never closed in future. Only illegal buildings under construction are knocked down. There were explanations regarding the temporary cases related to the mosques”.
