A round table on the topic: "Azerbaijan and the unresolved Karabakh conflict" and "Norway's role in the development of the region" will be conducted in Oslo, Norway in connection with the 18th anniversary of the Khojali genocide, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora told Trend News.
The participants of the event will share their views in connection with the genocide in Khojali , the history of the conflict, the work done for its solution, as well as the Karabakh conflict on the background of international law. Also a photo exhibition "Khojali through eyes of children", prepared at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will be presented and booklets providing information about this tragedy will be circulated during the event.
The round table will be organized jointly with the Peace and conflict resolution program of the political sciences department of the University of Oslo and the Youth Organization of Azerbaijanis in Norway.
During the event, the representatives of local communities, who are members of the Youth Organization, will send information about the tragedy to the e-mail addresses of the authoritative international organizations, as well as letters to well-known public-political figures of foreign countries in order to deliver to the international community the truth about the Khojali genocide.
Armenian troops committed genocide in Khojali on Feb. 26, 1992. The tragedy began early morning. Within hours, over 613 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens were killed. Among them were 106 women and 83 children. About 1,000 people were disabled by shots; 8 families were fully destroyed. A total of 25 children lost both of their parents and 130 children lost one of them. About 1,275 people were taken prisoner and around 150 people went missing. Eight families were completely killed.
