Azerbaijan introduces certification system on transition to international and national accounting standards

Training for masters on accounting and auditing will be held in universities in Azerbaijan from April 5-19, the Ministry of Finance said.

More than 20 masters from the Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and other universities will attend the training sessions.

Training will be conducted by specialists of international auditing company PriceWaterHouseCoopers.

Financing of trainings is carried out by means of a joint project on accountability in the corporate and fiscal sectors of the Azerbaijani government and the World Bank. Other donors of the project are the government of Japan and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The total cost amounts to $ 24 million.

The Ministry of Finance and Education confirmed the joint action plan to implement a certification system, confirming the level of professional training and the reorganization of accounting and auditing in the secondary and higher vocational institutions for 2010-2012 in connection with the transition to international and national accounting standards by the decrees February 2, 2010.
