Azerbaijan has achieved certain success in protecting children' rights, said EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia at a conference on children's rights.
Kobia said, despite the achievements in this area, there are still some problems. "We want to work in this direction together with the Azerbaijani parliament. EU and UNICEF are interested in that in Azerbaijan's society cared more about children, so that they become healthy citizens," he said.

The goal of UNICEF and EU is to prevent violence against children, UNICEF Baku Office Head Mark Hereward said at the conference. "We successfully work together with the Azerbaijani government in this direction," he added.

Azerbaijani Parliamentary social policy committee chairman Hadi Rajabli noted that Azerbaijan is one of the first acceded to international conventions on children's rights. The Azerbaijani Parliament will join another international convention to protect the rights of children May 7.

Head of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children of Azerbaijan Hijran Huseynova said currently the country realizes more than 30 programs dedicated to children's rights. Azerbaijan created an information base that reflects the situation of children, Huseynova said.

"We are confident that the steps taken towards improving the social protection of children and young people will create conditions for significant progress in this sphere," she said.
