On April 21-25, 2010, Azerbaijani students from Bul-Bul Music School joined their 130 counterparts from 11 European countries for the International Skills&Work Challenge in Belgrade, Serbia.
The local contest for the vocational school students in Azerbaijan was organized by the British Council Azerbaijan and supported by Azercell Telecom LLC and Microsoft Azerbaijan from October 2009-January 2010.
The "Skills&Work" Challenge is a competition held in both national and international levels that encourages young people to use their skills in enterprising and innovative ways to solve a business challenge proposed by the sponsoring company. The contest ultimately increases the students' employability and entrepreneurial flair.
The local competition in Azerbaijan took place in January 2010 and engaged 100 students from seven vocational schools. The winning team from Bul-Bul Music School travelled to the international competition in Belgrade, Serbia, where they competed in international student-teams.
During the contest in Belgrade the students from Azerbaijan worked with their peers from Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Slovakia, Lithuania, Israel, Georgia, Hungary, Turkey, Serbia and Macedonia to develop strategies for a successful school system which would be providing efficient services to students and teachers.
The jury gave most credit to innovative, effective and applicable solutions. Besides, the members of the jury challenged the teams even further by requesting a business strategy which would then have to be presented as convincingly as possible.
The audience was impressed by the skills the young presenters demonstrated in attracting their attention. British Council Azerbaijan expresses its gratitude to Azercell Telecom LLC for providing the opportunity for Azerbaijani students to participate in the prestigious international competition in Belgrade, Serbia.
