Heavy rainfall and water level raising in Kura and Garasu rivers caused serious problems in Zardab region of Azerbaijan, which forced the schools and kindergartens to stop lessons temporarily, local education official said.
The emergency and finance officials visited Zardab region to inspect the flooded areas. A total of 30 families hit by floods were evacuated. Several families were settled in the houses of their relatives. The emergency forces are constructing dams on the banks of Kura River and pumping water from the yards.
As many as 25 villages and 671 houses were flooded in Zardab region as a result of intensive rainfall and Kura River’s overflowing its banks. Residents of 30 destroyed or seriously damaged houses were evacuated.
