Two-day-preventive check-up of population living in Tovuz region by specialists from the National Cancer Center of the Republic has been completed. A large group of specialists, headed by Azerbaijani chief oncologist Fuad Mardanly, conducted check-up of population living in Tovuz region within two days, MP Ganira Pashayeva told Trend.
During the checkup about 393 residents were examined by highly qualified doctors. Heads and necks of 60 people were checked, 48 people went through gynecological examination, 160 - abdominal cancer screening, 60 people more gone through X-ray checkup. Other diseases were found, besides cancer. It was recommended for some residents to visit the Centre for Oncology.
Preventive checkup, carried out in the regions at the initiative of General Director of the National Cancer Centre, Academician Jamil Aliyev, is very important, Pashayeva said. As a result of this checkup, it is possible to reveal cancer and other diseases. It is impossible to effectively treat cancer, revealed at a late stage.
Pashayeva stressed special importance of obstetrical and gynecological checkup of women. She noted the need to regularly conduct such checkup.
Carrying out preventive examinations, activities and education in this field are the only way to save people from many diseases and prevent the rapid growth of a variety of diseases, MP said. Pashayeva expressed gratitude to the National Cancer Centre head, Academician Jamil Aliyev for checkup carried out by specialists.
