Tashkent marks late Azerbaijani national leader's birthday

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan hosted an event marking 87th birthday of Azerbaijan's late national leader Heydar Aliyev. Representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Tashkent and the media outlets also attended the event.

The participants laid wreaths and bouquets of flowers to the bust of Heydar Aliyev in the embassy's area, and observed a minute of silence in memory of the person whose role can not be overemphasized in the formation of an independent Azerbaijan.

The participants got acquainted with the photo exhibition about the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev, as well as with photos reflecting the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the years of independence, as well as mutual visits by the official state leaders of the two states.

Ambassador Namig Abbasov spoke about the immense contribution of Heydar Aliyev in the formation of national statehood of the country and consolidation of the Azerbaijani diaspora, noting the attention that Aliyev gave to the problems of Azerbaijanis living abroad.

Abbasov stressed Aliyev's role in implementing global long-term projects ensuring the sustainable political, economic and cultural development of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani diaspora emphasized the role of Heydar Aliyev in strengthening friendly relations with Uzbekistan and development of bilateral cooperation in all spheres of political, economic and cultural lives of the countries. The embassy demonstrated a documentary film about the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev.
