How many trees are planted in Azerbaijan?

About 8 million trees, of which 1.5 million fell to the Absheron Peninsula, were planted in Azerbaijan under the proclamation of 2010 as the Year of Ecology, Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov said.

Earlier, 2010 was declared the Year of Ecology on the initiative of the Azerbaijani President. Minister Bagirov, Director of the United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) Regional Office for Europe Christophe Bouvier and representatives of various ministries and departments, NGOs, diplomatic corps and mass media have attended a tree planting campaign held at the 10km from Baku on the highway Baku - Heydar Aliyev Airport.
