The Economic Reforms Research Institute under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry prepared a primary version of the region's socio-economic passports, Institute Director Vilayat Veliyev said at the presentation of the passport's primary version.
"We hope to get recommendations for improving the passports from the ministry's other departments and enterprises in today's discussions. The experience of both developing and developed countries, including CIS countries, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were used in preparing the passports. Initial samples have been prepared, but they will be improved in the future," Valiyev said.
The need for developing such passports rose from the tasks of set before the ministry under the State program of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan's regions for 2009-2013.
"The passports reflected socio-economic data collected in the country's regions, information about the area, relief, climate, natural resources and economic potential," he said.
Passports will reflect the socio-economic condition of economic regions and assess the existing capacity in the regions, as well as provide a database for local and foreign investors.
