Azerbaijani state commission clarifies fate of 47 missing people

As a result of investigation conducted by the working group of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People of Azerbaijan, fate of 47 missing people has been clarified, according to the State Commission’s official website.
A total of 15 people survived during the battles and sieges during the Karabakh war, 17 were killed in the battles and their bodies were identified and buried; 12 were repeatedly included in the list of missing people and three became missing outside the conflict zone.

The State Commission identified 4,090 prisoners of war, hostages and missing people as of June 1, 2010. As many as 3,297 of them are servicemen, 787 – civilians. 6 were not identified. 48 people became missing in their childhood (17 young girls).

252 women and 353 elder people, including 151 old women also went missing. There is information available about 783 out of 4,090 missing people according to witnesses' testimony.

1397, including 343 women, 169 children and 289 elder were released from captivity. The State Commission analyzed the materials and clarified that 553 people, including 104 women were killed or died in captivity.
